About The Ely Area Tourism Bureau

Visit Ely, MN / Ely Area Tourism Bureau Mission Statement

"Our mission is to promote and support sustainable area tourism through authentic and exceptional marketing, strong partnerships, and innovative local programs."

What does sustainable tourism mean?

  • We’re marketing to all audiences, ensuring a wide variety of people are welcomed to Ely.
  • We’re marketing for all seasons, ensuring Ely is visited year-round.
  • We’re educating our visitors in two ways:
    1. Making them aware of the wide variety of recreational and other opportunities available in our area so that when they’re here, they support as much of our local economy as possible.
    2. Ensuring they know how to respect our National Forest and Wilderness areas, wildlife, history, and environment so generations to come may enjoy our area in the same way.

What does authentic marketing mean?

  • Creating and promoting original Ely content – from our podcasts to email newsletters to seasonal guides, we’re creating the Ely content people seek.
  • Never spinning or forcing anything. We’re here to tell the Ely story in the best way possible, and it’s already so compelling that we don’t need to use spin or exaggeration in our marketing.

What does exceptional marketing mean?

  • Putting out our best work possible, always. How? By employing experienced local experts that know the area, are passionate about all things Ely, and are highly skilled in their respective fields.
